Our Sunday School's caterpillars became butterflies!
Sunday School Our Sunday School welcomes children from age 3 to seventh grade. The children study the current lectionary readings in age appropriate language. These are the same stories they hear when they attend the worship service. Sunday School teachers are always needed. If you are interested in joining a teaching team, substituting, or sharing your gifts with the children in special Sunday or seasonal projects, please join us! The Sunday School year is held from 9:00am to 10:15am September through early June.
Youth Group This group is open to our junior and senior high school students. They attend synod gatherings with other Lutheran youth as well as the national gathering that occurs once every three years, with the help of fundraising events the students organize throughout the year. The national gathering includes prayer, praise and service activities. The younger group attends a gathering in New Jersey each year. The event includes worship, learning and social activities. Support for ongoing youth meetings is always needed as the group does various service projects or fun activities during the year.
Confirmation We offer a confirmation program for our eighth and ninth grade students. The class is required to give hours of service, in addition to learning the Small Catechism and its meaning to Luther and in their lives today. By the end of the two year program, the confirmands will have worked to find the nexus of their faith and their every day life and accept personal responsibility for their baptismal vows taken by their parents on their behalf. The classes are held twice a week and taught by the pastor and a lay leader.
First Communion The class is a four week program of intensive learning about the gift of the Lord’s Supper and through it God’s grace. These young people study with their parents in preparation to receive their communion on Palm Sunday.
